The sooner the better. Functioning means “working” and does something useful. From your description, that is now. See http://brlcad.org/wiki/Summer_of_Code/Acceptance#Write_complete_code for details, but basically don’t leave anything until later (including simple things like naming files, comments, variables). It’s basically making the code as good as you can make it WITHOUT making it do more. If you’re unsure what this requires, you can submit what you have and a reviewer can give you feedback on what all you missed. From another Cheers! Sean
