Jagadish, welcome and thanks also for your introduction.  Feel free to 
elaborate much more on your coding experience and, more specifically, on what 
you are interested in doing with BRL-CAD.  Contributing to open source is no 
different than working on your own — you should propose work that you find 
interesting and that is ideally useful to others.  Figuring out the mechanics 
of submitting changes comes best by actually changing the code and talking with 
other developers.
