Hello Jagadish,

You should definitely read through the source files and the wiki to discover
the current import/export capability. However, I will note that proposing more
work than is realistic is a great way to get a proposal disqualified.

You should only propose as much as can be reasonably expected given your skills
and familiarity, not what sounds impressive. Someone that has never developed
for BRL-CAD or STEP before, for example, would likely encounter great
difficulty understanding the existing code base or complex concepts in STEP and
would probably take 20x longer than someone that’s been working on it for
years. Please do not propose working on both import *and* export. Focus on
the current needs of one or the other and be as specific as possible.

Good proposals will provide a timeline of what activities will be performed
during every week o GSoC. The schedule may change, but it at least shows you
thought things through. Anyone can find examples of past successful GSoC
student proposals on our wiki.

Cheers!
Sean
