You assume correctly about calling from within parallel_interface. You have
the right idea about taking advantage of the ability to pass an argument.
What it amounts to is making it so that parallel_func and parallel_arg are
not used for platforms like pthread that can take an arg. You'll probably
have to create a struct containing the callback, the arg, and possibly the
cpu ID.
