This is just the sort of document it would be useful to have in gnulib, though obviously the more of it that can be translated into rules in maint.mk the better. Before I started using maint.mk I had Zile's (much less rigorous) release procedure encoded in a `release' target in its top-level Makefile.am. It seems to me that, much as we're never going to have one size fitting all, having a largely comprehensive release procedure available for projects to use, and having as many as possible actually using it, will be a great time saver for both developers and users. -- http://rrt.sc3d.org
