You need to use the option "d" if you want to place stage2 in a
different drive from the drive in which you put stage1, like this:
root= (hd0,0)
install= /boot/grub/stage1 d (fd0) /boot/grub/stage2 0x8000 p

Oh, thanks. I understand what's wrong to see your message. :)
I've fixed it and another bug in stage1_lba, so I think the stage1s
can work in your environment as well as mine. Could you try them?
