Please notice (fd0)
And it was in /sbin/grub

I don't quite understand what you mean.
AFAIK, modern BIOS'es always support LBA.
What about the hard disks, of course, all of them are configured in the
LBA mode.

Well, I'll try to investigate the problem. It's going to be quite 
interesting.
