Those patches don't work in an out-of-tree build. With this extra patch,
they work.
However, I'm still hesitant to apply; I don't like the
make/lilypond-book-*.make
files. I'm not at all certain if that's a good approach. Could we wait a
few days
and see if anybody else comments on it?
