I see that Bruce is still a stickler for the law, thanks for the useless info there Bruce!
Randy, are these the same two radios that you had an issue with last year? More specifically, the exact same issue? Ron gave you some great info the last time <Flashback> Main Trading Co,'s web site states that the radio operates in this range. http://www.mtcradio.com/wouxun-kg-uv6d-v2-dual-band-vhf-uhf-199-channel-han dheld-commercial-radio-w-2-5-step/http://www.mtcradio.com/wouxun-kg-uv6d-v2-dual-band-vhf-uhf-199-channel-hand held-commercial-radio-w-2-5-step/ I suggest a call to them, as they are the largest distributor. Also try Ken Mirabella of Powerwerx http://www.powerwerx.com/http://www.powerwerx.com/ </Flashback> Here is a PDF manual which might be useful if you have not already seen it - https://lggagnon.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/wouxun61.pdf. The manual does not actually tell you how to do the unlock but instead refers you to the help files of the programming software. So, ensure that you have the latest version of Chirp. I've found that I had to use a different model number in the chirp software in order program my wife's Wouxon. A key point that I found on page 17 - "5. take care when frequency unlocking. Save all factory settings first by doing a “Program, Read from Radio, File, Save”. If you decide to perform a frequency unlock the new TX range must match the RX range." And as Ron pointed out last time, not all Wouxon are created equal, even if they do share the same model number. You could have the unlockable model.
