I agree that:

1) Our current follow-up procedure is nil.
2) It is important

What about this idea:

Extend the last class to 2 hours. The graduation class lasts 2 hours
anyway. Parents will show up 90 minutes into class to pickup their kids.

In the first hour, we hand out e-mail addresses, and get kids
acquainted with e-mail basics. In the last 1/2 hour, we go through
computer setup. Kids are good enough with that to get through it in
1/2 hour.

For the last 1/2 hour, parents should be present. We give them a
rundown about Internet security, etc. and how they should try to watch
what they do, etc. As a demo, any one of us can login to their own
e-mail accounts and show e-mails marked as SPAM, just to show what
kind of crud is out there on the Net.

We then give parents a pitch about the "tune up" that Teresa
suggested. We also give parents a pitch about enrolling their kids in
the workshop.

Then, we go through the graduation pictures, etc, and parents can
stand in on the pictures.

This is a stretch, but I'd like to hear some ideas.
