As I said, $60K is a tad high for an _entry-level_ programmer. They
probably also want VB programmers with prior experience (i.e.
non-entry-level).

Employers care more about English than you think. Spelling, grammar,
and good communication skills are perhaps more important than your
ability to program (although that is important too).

RAR is not superior to ZIP where users are concerned. Users are going
to look at that and say "What is this?" and move on...perhaps to the
next resume.

It is definitely Breakout (on drugs - kind of reminds me of running the
game "Popcorn" on a 486SX...which, BTW, was a sweet game when it didn't
lock up the computer). I've written at least two different Breakout
games...so I should know.

That brings up an interesting point - I've never written a Pong clone...
(Done Space Invaders and Nibbles, though). Although I've never made a
Windows game - my stuff was generally for embedded hardware - I have a
pretty good idea on how to make one.

Programmers, especially those who write games, don't give up. If I gave
up as easily as you did, VerifyMyPC would never have gone out the door
and seen the light of day. And I'm still working on more performance
improvements and new features*. I've seen water simulations that are
way better looking perform smoothly on my lousy hardware.

* I'm currently re-writing my socket library due to a little
enlightenment I received. I'm expecting to see a huge performance boost
in the GUI as a result (and possibly the elimination of a troublesome
bug in the core engine).
