You're wrong.  A quick Google search and scan through Kapersky's website 
turned up this worm (supposedly the fastest spreading virus/worm out 
there at the moment):

Clearly destructive.  Yes, there is probably data swiping oriented 
malware that gets installed afterward (which isn't specified as such per 
se - but is probably a botnet/rootkit and other nasties), but there is 
also clear destruction going on with the main virus prior to 
installation of more malware.
