Hi Jean,

Some comments...

General:

- It would be useful to highlight/change font (using styles?) for text
that is used to refer to filenames, datastructure, etc. Simply to make
it easier to recognise them - otherwise text like:

"the src directory in the file .transfer_cpio_skip_list by default"

and similar is quite difficult to read.

ASIDE: Simplest way to do this is to find such text, select it, and then
set it's style to the character style (under the "a" box in the
style box) of "Source Text" by double- clicking on the style which
applies it to the selected text.

The Styles box can be shown by using the menu "Format" and on
            that, selecting "Styles and Formatting".

- There are some XML elements that have text like:

    <name>"name value"</name>

The quotes would be not really used in XML, and look wrong here, it's
different if these are attributes to the XML tag, where quotes are
    required.

- Each transfer mechanism has something along the lines of "xxx_args" for
passing arguments to the layer below, I wonder if this should be
generalized rather than exposing the lower layer directly?

Exposing the lower layer could be useful for debug, but it really
shouldn't be that visible since it restricts things like replacing the
command used (e.g. SVR4 cpio vs GNU cpio version)

It also means that people need to know the underlying command or the API
of IPS, etc. to pass arguments.

Section 3.4.1.1 - page 8:

It refers to required information, transfer_type - it would be useful
to the reader to have this explained a little more here (I know more
can be found out later, or maybe refer to the fact that this equates
to the "Classes" entry in the i/f table in 3.3?

Section 3.4.5.2 - page 18:

The <transfer_type> node has "sVR4" instead of "SVR4".

HTH,

Darren
