It definitely should be in the method column. I'll confess, I was thinking
of it more of a function than a method but you are correct, it should
be a method that is part of the transfer class.

Nope. That wasn't the point of this interface section. It is meant for
exported interfaces.
- I don't really follow the UML sequence diagram in 3.6: it seems
to show the Engine communicating directly with CPIO, by-passing
the Transfer Checkpoint?
Since you actually do CPIO() my assumption was that was how you show it.
We should talk about this one....
