Hi All,

I am glad to see this thread, I do hope that it it not taken by some to
be anti-noob, everbody was a noob once (well, except PhpNut).

I think it will be difficult to enforce any kind of structure to how
people ask questions, if you don't know you are asking a question where
the solution is renderElement/requestAction/MethodX, then you can't
include that term in the subject of your thread. It reminds me of my
bank/insurance company/landlord - whenever I phone I have to know
exactly who I want to speak to to speak to them, and if I don't know
it's a long arduous journey often ending in an automated message of
"please try again". Anyway I digress..

Back on topic:I think that we, as a communitiy, can help with providing
some structure in the way questions are answered. In the vein of
teaching to fish rather than providing the fish, In this thread I have
replied with something that I would propose as a standard response to
(potentially) duplicate questions:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/cake-php/browse_thread/thread/98667b0929361208

It is not curt/abrupt but contains only
1) searchlinks
2) specific links if appropriate
3) some notes/caveats.

What do we all think about that?

A slightly more active/constructive request is that I think the cake
search /should/ be most users first port of call and that it can easily
be improved:
1) By fixing the regex (that I think I wrote) for getting results from
the google group
2) Either including more or No blogs as appropriate
3) Keeping the sources of info up to date
4) Caching results so that the page response is quicker, and common
search terms can easily be identified

As soon as (all) the info that is on the wiki is deemed to be obsolete
I guess it will be removed from the list of search sources. I can
provide some time for fixing this, but not in the next 10 days or so :)

Well, comments welcome, and "bake on!"
