I have been trying to move in this direction for the last 5 months. However, it became clear to me that things were not changing. So, I really had no choice but to make it more official. I hope you can understand. The best thing about CakePHP is not any one core developer, it is the community. We owe everything to the community and must put ego aside for the interest of the greater good.
