Regarding responsibility: I added a correction to the article after your comment, admitting that I was wrong, and that the callback methods are not really new. And with "well hidden" I pointed to the fact that you had to dig into the source to figure out the interface for components until recently. The example I used in the article is probably a bit misleading, but the article is not about blaming others, it is about blaming yourself, hence the title "What do I wrong that the other person fails?".
