Dear All, Cambodia was celebrating her 55th anniversary of Khmer independence from France yesterday. Most of the younger Khmer generation may not be aware of how we obtain the independence from France. Every Cambodians have contributed to this struggle, but the main architect of the road to Khmer independence was King Father Norodom Sihanouk. He was brilliant in his approach and a true Khmer nationalist who dared to go against the French government that had put Him on the throne twelve years earlier. It was a bold move by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk because His action against the French could have cost Him the throne.
