During Presidential election I was an active volunteer campaign for Lon Nol my leader was Mr San That he set up a tent behind Lon Nol house. Our team was supervised by San That he invited us To listen LON NON younget brothet of Lon Nol I was given free certificates free movie and free meal at prestigious restaurant Thay San behind Cinalux. There I had a chance and allow to meet President Lon Nol in person at his residence. Physically Lon Nol was paralysed from the recent stroke he even cannot lift his hand to shake the guest he was aided by his personal bodyguard I believe Colonel Pierre Roth. At the end Lon Nol won and In Tam lost because election was not free and fair and the country was in full fledge of war.
At that time the city of Phnom Penh was constantly unsafe grenade attack and bombshield launched by khmer rouge from the north killing people indiscriminately.The ceinture of city was shrinking everyday no one can get out safe from city.The communist Vietcong and Khmer rouge are escalating their attack from all sides. Their elements were scattered all over the city. They played role by mobilizing student state workers to stage rally and protest against Khmer Republic everyday so the government of khmer Republic became disfunctional. American warned to cut aide. Khmer Republic had No one in Washington to lobby for them they did not even know how American system is working. Khmer Republic foreign policy was zero. Khmer Republic was fighting each other for the benefit of the enemy khmer rouge. Khmer Republic was decived by the communist khmer rouge to strike the deal to end the war this was done by a group of Lon Non at the end he was slaughtered cruely by khmer rouge in Phnom Penh.
