Dwight, Theres probably a lot of ways to do it, but one that I have used before involved soldering a gear to the shaft, and having a piece of musice wire pinned down so the end of it was bearing against the side of the gear. The gear then could only be turned one way. This is hard to describe in words, if you're interested, I'll make a sketch for you.
