Then why bother with this mailing list? Great that you prefer Safari; I’d venture to say many of us use both depending on our needs (some pages won’t load under one or the other). I don’t want to get into a contest about which one is faster, since anyone’s mileage can vary. In my experience, depending on the build, Camino is generally either as fast or faster than Safari.
Regardless, I think that the fact that Camino is open source and maintained largely by volunteers who update it regularly based on user feedback, it’s pretty damn good. I think it’s a bit presumptuous to demand that the developers, who are quite generous with their time, “get their act together.” Firebird, while also fast, has a poor UI in comparison, and in the recent build I tested, didn’t even load www.apple.com. It’s a nice effort, and good for them, but is not a substitute on my machine for Camino.
It’s good that there are multiple browser options on OS X, and user choice is important. But silly threats (“I’m ditching browser X for Y unless you do everything I want and then some!”) are not appropriate nor are they useful. See Dave Hyatt’s blog for a more eloquent description of what I’m talking about (http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/hyatt/archives/2003_11.html#004358)
