I agree. What I want is a progress window that DOES disappear when it's complete. Which Camino has never done... I think the "old" versions you are thinking of are IE or Netscape.

Ideally, we'd then have a list, accessible in the same panel we see the bookmarks and history, that lists the downloads that one has done.

Someone here had done some custom nibs that reduced the amount of "space" needed for the information in the dialog; I still have his "middle" version automatically added to any new nightly thanks to Reinhold's CaminoKnight.
