Please don't scroll the tab bar!!

I agree with the people who say that a scrolling tab bar would be slick... in that it would definitely look and feel cool.

But in terms of functionality...

Let's say you have forty tabs open. You want to get to one of the off-screen tabs, but you're not sure where it is in the sequence.

With the current drop-down (which I don't love, remember), you click on the drop-down, and visually scan down the list of 30 or so tabs in the list and go right to the one you want.

If instead you had to horizontally scroll the tab bar in small increments, never being able to see more of them than fit in the screen at once, you'd potentially have to keep scrolling, and keep scanning different horizontal chunks until you got to what you were looking for. It would be much slower and more tedious.

Efficient navigation depends on being able to see things quickly. That's why I'd like at least an option for a wrapping tab bar (like the bookmark bar). A scrolling bar would actually be a step backwards from the drop-down, in terms of rapid visual access.
