This is an important point, automotive alternators are designed to recharge SLI batteries quickly and to provide power for the rest of the automotive systems. The excess power quickly boils the water out of marine and deep cycle batteries and can also be turned into heat which warps plates. C10 to C20 is the recommended recharge and for a typical group 24 marine battery that is about 8 to 16 amps. For a T-105 battery bank that would be 20 to 40 Amps.
