there is cracked, crushed area about 1/8" deep This area is about 1" wide by
2" long extending under the compression pad.

Much to my despair, I noticed a damaged beam end (starboard forward beam)
when folding the boat for the season. I am trying to get information
regarding
the appropriate repair technique. I know about the "compression block repair"
form Ian's web site, but since the boat is hauled for the winter, this would
be
a good time to do a thorough repiar. Since there was no accident or
collision, I don't know why this failure occured. The remainder of the
folding
mechanism, crossbeam, and compression pad all appear structurally sound.
