12:47. The conditions seemed perfect for a crossing, almost flat. What
a pity we had travelled by car instead of by boat !
A coaster loomed in the mist this side of the old crossing so we
decided to nip back to Berkeley Co-Op to buy some lunch and return
watch the arrival. All very calm . . . . upstream at slow ahead, turn
to port 180 degrees, stem the tidal remnants and then swing in on the
bow thruster. Anyone could do it !
We returned to Uncle Mort at Parkend and contented ourselves with a 90
minute water filling trip to Sellars Bridge.
Now tomorrow, weather permitting, I will be crew on nb Jasper out of
Sharpness at around 14:30. Interesting that another coaster is
scheduled in at Sharpness on the same tide. The plan is that we will be
accompanied to Lydney by the Saul based steel cruiser "Welded Bliss".
And back again late on Sunday afternoon.
