And that I believe is the problem. As more people buy more expensive boats they
expect higher standards and are more intolerant of others who don't live up to
their standards.

>Would you be happy to invest the value of your boat in a bank that paid

Wrong analogy. I know my bank does, as I have just negotiated a loan. I also
know I pay less insurance for my boat than some others for exactly the same
ins. I expect I also pay more than some who bargained harder than my self.

>Of course I agree that we don't want rules for the sake of them. In fact

Life isn't fair and I don't believe rules are ever applied fairly. Why use
prisons for the mentally ill. Can't get more unfair than that.

The one who was fined should have appealed. I am assuming he was on designated
visitor moorings with a time limit. If so he only had to ask to stay. If he was
anywhere else he couldn't be charged because if he has a mooring he can't
overstay, but BW staff don't always seem aware of that. Why the other boater is
allowed to stay, I would want a lot more details before I commented.

I accept it as a fact of life. My next door neighbour's house belongs to a
housing association. When her son caused a fire the assoc. redecorated & washed
all her belongings. I had to claim on my own ins which cost me. We still are
friends. Life is too short to worry whether someone is getting a better deal
than I am.
