Yes - there isn't normally serious frost before December but it might
get near freezing overnight and you may get cold rain. I would guess
between one sweater and warm anorak.

afternoon you may prefer to stop at Newbold or Hillmorton. I think the
preferred pub at present in Newbold is the Crown.
If we go further should we turn right towards Napton or

My own view (others may differ) is that two possibilities are to turn
left and left again at the top of Buckby for Foxton (three interesting
tunnels and the staircase locks at Watford and Foxton) or right and
straight on at Napton to Fenny Compton (or possibly Cropredy) - a
classic early contour canal. Personally I don't think it's worth going
down the Grand Union to Stoke Bruerne (in my view rather boring and
bleak as far as Blisworth) or the GU to Warwick (rather boring 1930s
modernisation and the canal goes through the worst bits of Leamington
and Warwick).
Possible intineraries would be
Day 1 - Newbold
Day 2 - Napton
Day 3 Fenny/Cropredy
Day 4 Napton
Day 5 Watford
Day 6 Newbold
or
Day 2 - Crick
Day 3 - Foxton
Day 4 - Braunston
Day 5 Napton
Day 6 Newbold
(assuming 6/8 hours on the move in full days)
What pubs are recommended along the way? I
