Personally I would not have an air cooled Lister if I could help it -
too many memeories of all sorts of problems, smell, fumes and the
ever present threat of oil dilution unless internal work is carried
out every year or so - which brings its own threat off fuel leaks.
I also note that there appears to be fewer and fewer on the cut who
have much experienmce of Listers (see a recent technical question
from a "proffesional" who has yet to feed back to us) and a chap I
met last year who was suffering from oil dilution (I could smell it
from the other end of the lock) who said some very unkind words about
the engineers he had spoken to about it once I explained what was
going on.
Perhaps I should have advised a Bukh DV36, like mine, which is a
proper marine engine, be it higher reving than many, but I susepct
one look at the cost would rule that out.
