I now have a little more info and it apparently is down to a gas fridge!.
The boat is used by its owners for weekends and holidays and I have now
discovered I have met the boat owner. There appears to have been a rally and
they were discovered by someone going to find out where they were after the
next morning after they had spent the night on the boat.
They were moored in Springfield Basin close to Chelmsford Town Centre.
Both parties are reported to be doing well and are expected back at work
shortly.
