There's no need to be like that! I have used electric locks many times. 
However, I have never had cause to hit the red button so how am I 
expected to know what happens when you do?

I don't know why you are telling me all that - I am fully aware of how 
these locks perform - just not what happens when the red button is 
pressed.

So - do the paddles close instantly or do they trickle down at the speed 
they go up?
