I know a few years ago you argued against global warming in the face of all
evidence.
There is no credible evidence and a meeting of scientists a couple of years
ago failed to come to any conclusion. Only one 'study' has taken place (in the
1960s) and when the figures didn't come out as the 'researcher' wanted, he
made up crucial figures for his presentation - and these figures are the ones
that 'greens' use to support their case.
We just don't know what the 'normal' situation is - records have not existed
to determine whether we are heading for GW or just coming out of a mini-ice
age.
Yes, chunks of ice are coming off the Antarctic ice shelf, but the ice is
getting even deeper on the land mass there, so the amount of ice is actually
increasing - it's just in a different place. There is still the possibility (or
even probability) that we are just in a natural cycle.
In a study by British government scientists a year or so ago into the upper
atmosphere they discovered there had been no increase in the temperature
there. If GW existed, they would have expected to have found changes at the
boundaries but there vwas none.
I will accept that we need to stop wasting the world's resources, but to my
mind Global Warming is not an acceptable vehicle to carry it on.
And talking about vehicles, mines in Russia and China have been left to burn
themselves out. The amount of 'greenhouse gases' produced by these mines is
far in excess of the pollution caused by vehicle emissions. The UK government
would probably cut more emissions (and more cheaply) by paying to put these
mines out - but of course it is politically incorrect to suggest the
government is spending too much money tinkering around the edges of the
pollution
problem. If indeed there is a problem.
