But by putting those mines out it wouldn't get everyone onto (ultimately
state owned) public transport and out of their big houses, or bring down
large multinational companies. Any solution which doesn't acheive this is
quietly dropped.
The cofounder of Greenpeace resigned because the organisation was taken over
by extremists after the end of the cold war.
Look at the recent proposal for differential parking charges for large
vehicles. The proponents keep using the term "gas guzzlers" for public
consumption, but the actual proposal is to tax large vehicles regardless of
engine size, type of fuel or efficiency. The greens hate 4x4s and large
vehicles because they can do things small cars can't. When everyone is
crammed into Smart cars the experience will be that much closer to public
transport that the switch will be easier.
This is actually on topic, because fossil fuelled leisure activities are
also for the chop. Narrowboating, being low density and eleitist, hasn't got
a hope under these people. Whereas, if they don't get me for preaching
sedition, they can stop me towing the boat about, but they will have some
difficulty justifying stopping me sailing it. I can even do without the
engine completely if neccesary.
