I concur with Graham's comments. We stopped *at* the Rock of Gibraltar last
year, and they were quite agreeable to us using their mooring overnight,
especially since we were going to have dinner there anyway. We made a point
of going in and asking permission first, of course.

In my very limited experience, have to say that I was very disappointed with
the Southern Oxford canal. I found the towpath to be execrable, the paddles
stiff, and the the gates quite a bit heavier than we experienced on the GU.
I realize that this canal is less travelled than the GU, and that BW isn't
always as responsive as they might be regarding towpath maintenance, but
gosh, you'd think they'd do *something!*

Anyway, Eric, enjoy your cruise. Except for the rant above, I wish I was
going with you.

Cheers,

Phil
