The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race is held at Easter. Because the date of Easter is related to the moon, the tide times are always fairly similar. If the tide time was liable to change within a full 12-hour range it would be very difficult to plan the Monday-morning finish. At the moment it is usually approx 7am start at the top of the tide at Teddington, and all the canoes are off the water by about 9:30 before the river gets too busy with other traffic.
I was told that there are about 35 factors that affect the date of Easter. Dave Wedd.
