I'd just like to echo some other replies to this.

I switched to Michael Stimpson (who later transferred his practice to
Mardon, but continues to be the broker who runs it) about a decade
ago.  

I check every time I renew, but I've always found his prices to be the
best.  I've had only one claim, which was settled efficiently
(although I wouldn't have paid the other party if I'd had the
choice!).  Also, Michael does indeed know what he is talking about.

I do occasionally move my barge single-handed, but I have never been
charged extra for this.  Also, I have navigated it at length in
mainland Europe with only a reasonable surcharge for the Channel
crossings.  

There have been some administrative glitches due to Mardon's having
had problems with its IT, but I think/hope these are now over.
