It's pretty busy all the way through Fradley to Derwent Mouth. And with a 
585-berth marina 
coming on stream at Willington, and other developments nearby (e.g. Streethay 
Farm), it's not 
going to get any quieter.

I've occasionally wondered aloud about the possibility of building short bypass 
canals for 
some of the congestion spots (e.g. Fradley, Derwent Mouth), a bit like the 
Lapworth Link - I'm 
sure even a non-boaty waterway manager would be able to see the potential of 
funding that 
through canalside development.

But older and wiser WW heads than me argue that the problems would be solved at 
Derwent 
Mouth and Kegworth Deep if BW were to just put the paddles back to their 
non-messed-
around state.
