I did joke, but I can't really see this becoming boater operable! :-) I was more worried about the apparent lack of knowledge of some BW staff at tidal locks. Soon a hapless boater, who does not know the ropes will be sent to his doom...then we have the insurance implications if BW were found to have given duff info. It amazes me that people get insurance cover for the Ribble Link. BW "sometimes" insist they see an insurance certificate that covers the tidal aspects of this link as oposed to just the normal "tidal passages to reach inland navigations". One reason that I stay with my not particularly cheap insurance company, is that all the tidal stuff that we ever wanted to do (well apart from one!) was covered. The same policy is in force in Ireland, again with conditions prearranged for tidal stuff. There is also the liability inpications of the lack of supervision / cover in dodgy areas, such as the Rochdale coming out of Manchester. -- Neil Arlidge - NB Earnest - Shannon Reg 7410 Read about the TNC Irish travels at: http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Tour_07/index.html Defend the waterways: http://www.saveourwaterways.org.uk/
