Date - 15 /05/08 Day - Thursday Start - 1030 Cowley Lock End - 1730 Brentford Basin
We woke about 6am to the sound of heavy rain on the roof and rapidly turned over again. We set off at 1030 in light rain, I rand Willowtree Marina to find the price of their diesel, 75p/lt so we decided to go to see them. Stopped at Bulls Bridge junction to fill with water and clear the prop. Headed off down the Paddington arm and moored outside the marina at about quarter to one. Rang the marina and a man came out and filled us with 75 lt. it was 60 hours since we last topped up and had used the stove a couple of times. After eating a sandwich we winded and headed back to Bulls Bridge turning left towards Brentford. Along here we came across a group of 28 swans, the biggest we have seen for a long time. The first lock we came to has security locks fitted and as I left the lock I was able to see the shopping trollies in the bottom of the lock. We met several boat sin the flight, 4 of them from the River Wey. Just below the last lock I was lucky to avoid what could have been a nasty incident, there was a fishing lure with 2 treble hooks hanging from a willow try right in line with my face, I just dodged to one side in time. We continued on into Brentford Basin where we have moored for the night, it is 5 years since we were last this way and how things have changed. -- Brian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Join SOW and help save our waterways http://www.saveourwaterways.org
