Though it was often a great disappointment. As I've said before you'd sometimes walk miles to get to a listed pub only to find that there was a pump in the corner that had rusted for lack of use. But let's justremember how difficult it was to get a drink of any sort in those days when to get to a pub that was actually open and serving alcohol required planning on a military scale.
