Our boat --- in Ireland rather than in the UK --- is about 100 years
old. We got it surveyed before we bought it, in 2004, had an informal
survey in 2007 (ie a friend who is a surveyor looked at some aspects
at my request --- and didn't charge) and are required to have another
survey in 2010. I intend to get it done this year instead, as that
suits me better. I think we'll be on ten-yearly surveys after that,
However, as there is no BSS in Ireland, I'm quite happy to have the
boat surveyed regularly. I get it done when the boat is dry-docked for
blacking and checkign of anodes, so it's not a major inconvenience.
And, given that our boat plies rather deeper waters, I'd like to be
sure that the bottom isn't going to fall out of it any time soon.
