Hi Guys, I'm looking for advice and hints on journeying from the K&A (Reading) to the GUC, via Brentwood,
Being single-handed I'll be picking up my son at Reading, for the Thames part, in the evening of Friday 21st May; hopefully he will be able to help me up to a point just past that close group of locks at Southall - but he will be pressed for time as he needs to be back at work on the Monday morning and I'm reckoning on a journey time of somewhere around 28+ hours. I've suggested he travels up to 'Wyrd' by train, rather than driving up and leaving his car (his MX5 is currently his pride and joy!) parked up somewhere. At present I'm of the opinion that it would be quite daft (irresponsible?) for me to start down the Thames, from Reading, whilst single-handed - picking my son up somewhere along the way - but am I really being too cautious about this, or just sensible?? I believe I'll also need to coordinate times with the last lock before Brentwood, which I think is tidal? As always, any hints / advice / cautions, etc. will be gratefully appreciated ;-) Cheers, Trevor nb 'Wyrd' Hungerford [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
