For low usage the Vodafone deal with no time limit is very good, and ideal as a backup when in a poor signal area. For the Three network it may be worth considering the PAYG 12GB for 12 months package for £80. Instead of losing your unused 1GB at the end of each month, you only lose it all at the end of the year. Plenty of data available when you do find a good signal, without worrying about going over your 1GB limit.
My Vodafone dongle usually only works on slow GPRS, whereas Three dongles don't support GPRS at all - if you haven't got a fast connection then you haven't got a connection at all. On the K&A during the D-W canoe race I believe we have had good Three connections at Hungerford, Newbury and Aldermaston checkpoints, but not at Pewsey. Dave Wedd.
