This means that Carbon Emacs could not find an Elisp function `R´ to  
execute. Are there no preliminaries to take like requiring or loading  
some `library´ Elisp file? A different thing is that the R command  
would need to be in the UNIX search path unless you have customised  
absolute path name ...
