How can I see if R is in my path?

Everything was working fine on my old computer. I got a new machine,
transfered everything from the old one to the new one, and now R won't
start. CarbonEmacs seems to work fine but when I enter the command:
M-x R
After pressing enter to confirm that I want to use ~/ as the starting
data directory,
I get the following message:
Searching for program: no such file or directory, R

I checked the ess-site.el file on both computers and the lines about R
are exactly the same. I am thinking that maybe R was on the path in
the old computer but is no more on the path in the new one... R aqua
works fine in the new machine though.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Gonçalo
