Hi Fried, I don't think you need install-caret anymore. It just added read and execute permissions to some of the subdirectories, but I assume those already have the needed permissions now. Otherwise, if you do run into permissions problems, a simple chmod -R 757 /usr/local/caret might do the trick.

As for matlab code to read PALS, I can't help, but Alex Cohen or someone in the Petersen Lab might have it.
