Hi Guy, Thanks for your answer. I am not very familiar with Linux, so I would like to ask about the Linux OS I could start with. You said I could start with Ubuntu or Centos, but here in this web http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/17966.htm It seems that Red Hat or Suse are the ones compatible with ISE tools.
I would also get information about the python package which is necessary to manage the Roach. Where can I get it? And How can I install it? thanks -----Mensaje original----- De: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] En nombre de [email protected] Enviado el: lunes, 28 de febrero de 2011 22:02 Para: [email protected] Asunto: casper Digest, Vol 39, Issue 21 Send casper mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://calmail.berkeley.edu/manage/list/listinfo/[email protected] or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of casper digest..." What I am using is: Windows 7 (32 bits) System Generator 10.1 Matlab R2008a Xilinx ISE 10.1 Should I use other versions in order to avoid problems? I mean, if it would be better for example to use Linux instead of windows...or something like that. But I'll recommend you to use WinXP instead(to compile your mdl design). there is no need to move to linux if you use a 32bit computer. But one day you will probably need a linux OS(centos or ubuntu) when you will try to play in depth your Roach board . With WinXP you will have to be sure that your python, will accept all the package needed when you'll have to interact with your Roach. from my experience I'll recommend you to start with a linux configuration. May be someone here who uses WinXP not only for compiling, can tell us how they managed to setup all the python package.(i'm interested also). For my case: I've 2 computer 1 with a 32bit WinXP, the second one with a 64bit Linux. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment scrubbed and removed.
