Hi Jesús, CentOS is essentially the same thing as Red Hat, I think they just did a grep replace of 'red hat' for 'centos' and called it a new linux distro. You don't get any support with CentOS but then it is free compared to Red Hat. Scientific Linux is apparently the same thing. We use CentOS for ISE and we have Ubuntu machines for managing ROACH boards. Does anyone use CentOS for managing their ROACH boards?
For interacting with a ROACH you should use KATCP ( http://casper.berkeley.edu/wiki/KATCP) which provides a good interface to the board, also the corr package(listed on that page) has a lot of good higher level functions in python. I think you just need numpy to set that up. Installing is just your standard "python setup.py install" -Griff 2011/3/1 Jesús García LLedó <[email protected]> > Hi Guy, > Thanks for your answer. > I am not very familiar with Linux, so I would like to ask about the Linux > OS > I could start with. > You said I could start with Ubuntu or Centos, but here in this web > http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/17966.htm > It seems that Red Hat or Suse are the ones compatible with ISE tools. > > I would also get information about the python package which is necessary to > manage the Roach.
