Hi Mathews and Adam, It seems the problem was with the incorrect installation of casperfpga. After the reinstallation of casperfpga, everything worked fine. The version number was initially returning *0.0+unknown.202008281536 *and after reinstalling I got the correct version number as *3.3.dev929+devel.2a78685* and then it worked.
