Lately my project at work has been in release mode so I've had
little extra time to do much of anything else. However, the release
is almost done (phew!).
Myself and others are currently working to:
1) improve the documentation
2) improve the code base
3) keep up with the mailing list
Improving the documentation has always been something that I wanted
to do. Only now am I beginning to take the time to do so. This is
mainly occurring through suggestions received from the list.
Documentation includes JavaDocs in the source code. This is second
on my list of documentation items.
Improving the code base is an on-going effort. There was mention
in this thread of a private branch in CVS. I'll be the first to
tell you that there is *no such thing*. Perform the cvs log function
on a file and cvs will tell you about all the tags in which that
file participates. Try it on build.sh ;-)
The mailing list itself has mushroomed into quite a little community
(not to mention a decent amount of work!). I tend to only store
about a month's worth of the castor-dev list in my mailbox and the
current average number of messages per month is nearly 1000! I
remember when I first started using Castor about a year-and-a-half
ago and the monthly average might have been 200-300. I am extremely
happy to see that Castor has grown so much.
Keith and Diez are correct in stating that currently the best way
to get into the architecture is to check out the source from CVS
and start digging. I know that this is not ideal, but hopefully all
this will improve soon.
